Well, we just rolled into town this morning from Augusta, KS. I love Ben’s parents for being willing to watch Kate as Ben and I spent five days in Colorado.
The mountains are so good for our souls.
We hiked up two and a half mountains–summited (or “bagged” as the veteran hikers would say) two in one day! We attempted a third but the weather beat us to the top. We also drove to the top of Mt. Evans (highly recommended by Liam and Precious Atchison!).
At the top of Grays Peak
At the top of Torreys Peak an hour or so later
Stopping point at Mt. Quandary, somewhere between 13,500 and 14,000 feet…see the white mass of clouds surrounding us? That was crazy. That’s what they call white-out conditions, where when it’s cold enough and the clouds roll in with snow, you can’t see anything around you, much less the trail. Yikes! We made it down the mountain quickly and safely.
We loved chilling in downtown Denver–
We saw an amazing concert at Red Rocks–I think my most favorite large-concert venue at this point. Ray and David Gray brought it!!! PLEASE check them out when you get a chance. They are worth listening to.
The first photo is Ray LaMontagne
The second music photo is Mr. David Gray
We got to come home to this girl, yesterday, and that was the icing on the cake for this vacation!:)
She saw a real tiger, but I love this picture.
