We are deep into summer and loving the fact that we can enjoy live music outdoors (and indoors) and introduce Kate to bands we love and enjoy.  I think we will always be that couple that is rocking out to some band next to the college kids, even in our gray-haired years. We might get some looks, but music is enjoyed by any and all, right?

Last summer Ben and I saw Ray LaMontagne and David Gray at Red Rocks Ampitheater in Morrison, Colorado for our five-year wedding anniversary/vacation.

This year we’ve loved seeing bands like Amos Lee, Abigail Washburn, The Wailin’ Jennys, Mumford and Sons and The Head and the Heart.  We just bought tickets to see Bon Iver in Kansas City at the Uptown Theater in September.

If you are itchin’ for some good music to listen to while driving, or to dance to with your kids, or check out live, I encourage you to listen to the videos below or click on the names of each band above!  You won’t be sorry…you can trust my taste in music. 🙂

The Head and The Heart — Lost in My Mind

I’m going to Bon Iver, too! Justin Vernon’s creative process is such an inspiration to me. I love love love his version of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” He performed it on Jimmy Fallon and I thought it was beautiful.

Also, I like the story behind For Emma. He was broke, had mono, broke up with his g-friend, broke up with his band and was going to live in his dad’s house. I love how his commitment to making paid off in such a lovely way (that album).

This is why you’re my favorite cool mom. I was *this* close to being at Bon Iver with you, so enjoy it extra for me! See you soon 🙂
